Sr. Systems Engineer
Description:
• Implement engineering solutions aligned with enterprise architecture framework to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of enterprise infrastructure operations.
• Provides and maintains documentation of systems, troubleshooting and support guidelines and system metrics.
• Be proficient with VMware ESX in an Enterprise environment.
• Provide operating system installation and ongoing administration for other Microsoft server products as needed.
• Provide assistance with other technologies and appliances as required.
• Provide technical support for projects that do not clearly fit into other areas within the department.
• Testing new applications, upgrades, and updates in a test lab environment.
• Troubleshoot and repair server related problems.
• Respond to requests for support from Tier 1-2 support.
• Participate in on-call rotations for 24 x 7 technical supports.
• Working with and designing of disaster recovery plans and testing.
• Install, support and configure software applications that run on Windows Blade 2003 and 2008 Servers.
• Research and identify optimal mature technologies, as well as emerging technologies, that can be applied to current IT operations to resolve problems, make improvements or satisfy customer needs.
• Formulate and propose technology initiatives to lead the optimization of enterprise IT infrastructure.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related subject or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
MCSE Windows 2k or above.
Extensive Systems management experience including many of the specific technologies being employed including Windows 2003/2008, Citrix configuration and installation, Exchange in an enterprise environment, SQL and virtualization technology.
Top notch troubleshooting skills.
Experience with installing/operating/maintaining test lab environments.
Experience supporting remote locations.
Experience working on large technical projects.
Effective written and verbal communications; ability to convey technical issues and material to non-technical people.
Exceptional documentation skills are required.
