SAN Engineer
Requires 3-5 years experience in Application Support, System Integration, and Storage Engineering in a mixed Linux/Windows Environment for high credit-card transaction companies.
Experience with Oracle RAC and EMC DMX storage application is a MUST!!!!. Experience with TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, DHCP, NFS, LDAP, and Active Directory, and Virtual Servers. Experience with Netapp. Blade Server experience a plus. General supervision. Regularly provides guidance and assists in training less experienced Storage Engineers and Associates. Occasionally leads a project team.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or certified in the field of Storage by one or more relevant industry recognized entities or associations.
Competent to research new technologies and architect enterprise level storage, data recovery, and data replication solutions for business needs. Able to install, configure and monitor storage device hardware and data recovery systems including NAS, SAN, disk array’s as well as backup and recovery systems.
Advanced understanding of storage concepts, function, protocols and interactions with host devices in a complex enterprise data center environment.
Ability to problem isolate the most complex issues and provide solutions including forward looking design and architecture for current and legacy systems.
Stays abreast of industry standards and makes sound recommendations to set corporate standards and direction including security and business continuity best-practice.
Responsible for clear documentation of all aspects of the environment as well as system interactions, ServiceDesk integration, and business continuity with regard to storage, data recovery, and Linux systems.
Requires very little instruction and guidance. Generally works under deadlines.
5 or more years in a related computer field with at least 3 years in the storage in an enterprise multi-platform environment. Sound systems troubleshooting techniques, systems integration experience and extensive hardware knowledge required.
