My client an expanding global media company seeking to recruit an experienced and junior Java Developer to join their team for a six month rolling contract. You will be working on the latest technologies on a brand new SOA enviornment from scratch.
Job Description for our Consultant (Includes Daily responsibilities and expectations):
• Design, implement, document, test, and operate web-based, data driven applications
• Tune code and database queries for optimal performance and architect solutions for scalability.
• Construct markup and code using technical standards as set forth by the Web development team.
• Participate in design, standards and code reviews
• Work on a variety of projects in an agile and adaptive team environment
• Design all applications and interfaces with globalization and multiple language localization in mind
• Develops and maintains website including building new sections
Required Skills (needed to successfully complete responsibilities):
• Must have 5-8+ years of application development experience for the Sr. Level Role and 3-5 years for the Mid level role.
• Must have a very Sr. level experience with J2EE, Java Script, Java Script Frameworks (i.e. Prototype, JQuery), and JSP.
• Experience with web services, AJAX, SOA, SOAP, XML, UDDI, WSDL, Unix, Windows, SQL Server, and Apache.
• Experience developing with HTML, XHTML, CSS, XSLT, HTML table design, XFORMS, XQuery, and XML-based publishing.
• Experience with agile development methodologies: short-development iterations, test-driven development, prototyping and re-factoring.
• Working knowledge of multi-tier web-based architecture (web servers, load balancing, caching, databases, replication, etc…).
• Understanding of, and commitment to, version control and code management techniques (CVS, etc.).
• Demonstrated commitment to quality and customer-focus.
• Full command of cross-browser, performance, and web standards issues management.
• Ability to think conceptually, analyze data, articulate design concepts, make recommendations for practical applications, and deliver completed solutions on time and on budget.
• Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage time, prioritize multiple initiatives/request and interact with all levels of management.
Desired Skills (Additional skills that would be a benefit or would set our candidate apart in interview):
• Knowledge of image optimization and multimedia a plus.
• Knowledge of accessibility, usability, and user experience a plus.
• Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of CMS & ability to create/customize a CMS a plus.
• Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing strategies a plus.
