full time Director -Application Development

About the Job

Our S FL based client is looking to add a Director of Application Development to establish a Process Framework for all Development enhancements, projects, & releases.​


Be able to communicate technical issues in business terms so that senior leadership can evaluate options and make sound decisions.​


Plan, lead, assign, supervise, and control activities related to software design and development.​


Manage and supervise development, QA, and technical services functions.​


Participate in the analysis and development of business requirements.​


Establish and manage project timelines, goals, and objectives.​


Ensure adherence to consistent processes, standards, and total quality practices.​


Maintain, improve and optimize internal software development process.​



Oversee multiple teams of software developers responsible for the design, development, enhancement of multiple web-based applications and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).​


Establish and adhere to set development plans and release dates.​ Assign and oversee development of design documents and unit test plans.​


Conduct regular status meetings with the development teams and departmental teams.​


Work with other departments to coordinate project release cycles and training of personnel.​


Conduct performance evaluation and reviews.​

Manage all day-to-day personnel issues & hiring of the development team while fostering an environment of dedication to the success of releases.​


Must be able to still work with the code (less than 10%​).​ Would expect working knowledge of .​NET, C+​+​/​# with enough technical programming knowledge in order to evaluate architectural designs, underlying code for quality and programming time/​cost estimates.​



Knowledge of SOA, IIS, Windows Server, .​NET, SQL Server, Agile, ESB, VB.​Net and/​or C#,WCF, WPF, Silverlight a plus.​

Education/​Experience:

Bachelors Degree --& Strong Technical Background



8-10 years experience in leading software development teams and building web-based, high volume, e-commerce websites.​


5 years professional experience managing development of technology platforms based in the Microsoft technology stack, including IIS, Windows Server, .​NET, and SQL server.​


5 years experience in Agile methodologies and supporting techniques, including at least three years managing with an Agile methodology.​



Advanced understanding of web application programming architectures.​



Strong skills in Java based object oriented software development.​



Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML/​XHTML, CSS, XML or JavaScript and Java.​

Understanding of AJAX/​Spring, Hibernate/​Struts.​
