Application System Administrator

SUMMARY: Responsible for the installation, patching, troubleshooting and administration of third-party UNIX/Linux applications.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
MANAGING WORK: • Understands scope, priority and timelines of assigned work • Manages own workload to deliver quality deliverables that meet requirements • Communicates to supervisor status of assignments • Notifies supervisor of issues that impact productivity or ability to meet expectations • Follows Catalina Solutions Framework (CSF) processes in completing assignments • Follows standards/uses standard toolsets • Identifies opportunities to improve existing conditions and processes • Creative in problem solving
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Researches technical issues associated with hardware and software application components • Assists with server builds • Establish project plans and coordinates with Store Systems Teams for testing and deployment of S/W
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of experience in administering UNIX/Linux applications 2+ years of experience in application integration 1+ years of experience in basic database administration
SPECIAL SKILLS: • Strong analytical/problem solving skills • Strong knowledge of UNIX and Linux operating systems • Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems • Basic understanding of TCP/IP and networks • Working knowledge of system monitoring tools • Exposure to application development life cycle and methodologies • Overall understanding of backup and restore • Good knowledge of UNIX/Linux performance tuning policies • Experience with databases: SQL Server, Oracle, SQL • Basic understanding of Database Administration tasks • Start/Stop database • Create tablespace, tables, indexes • SQL Load/Unload • Logical export • Space monitoring • Performance tuning • Supports the operation of existing applications • Adheres to Production Support process • Understands and supports the functionality of the applications • Creates documentation to aid in others' learning • Custom application development and systems integration • Packaged software implementation
