Database Monitoring Systems Engineer

Job responsibilities include setup/install/configure/upgrade/troubleshoot/performance tune/maintenance of various technologies and product sets from multiple vendors to ensure optimal performance and availability. Work closely with other Infrastructure team members to facilitate application on-boarding, testing and security infrastructure integration. Plan and execute patches, upgrades and product releases. Work directly with customers, create and maintain Operations documents, support and respond to service outages and incidents, problem resolution, root cause analysis, SOX compliance as well as AD integration.
Bachelor's degree in System Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college/university is preferred, but comparable accomplishments in system engineering will be considered.
Minimum 8 years general engineering experience with Bachelor's Degree, 5 years with Advanced Degree or professional SE Certification.
Hands on experience in supporting Oracle 10g, Oracle grid control, Oracle partition, performance monitoring and performance tuning.
Good troubleshooting and debugging skills across layers of an application.
8+ years of progressive experience in IT, supporting systems and services.
Expert knowledge of Oracle Databases.
Knowledge and experience in Hardware, Software, networking, firewalls, DMZ, AD and other supporting infrastructure involved in enterprise web applications that support distributed users 24/7.
Must be customer focused, detail oriented and possess good communication skills.
Good hands on experience with Oracle pl/sql, Oracle performance tuning.
Characteristics necessary for success include: self-disciplined, customer-oriented, flexible attitude, and detail oriented; solid written and verbal communication skills; the ability to assess and troubleshoot systems infrastructure issues; the ability to operate independently where appropriate, and understand when to escalate issues to management; the ability to establish effective working relationships with teams, peers, and management.
